In 1988, The Talking Heads released the song “(Nothing but) Flowers”, which describes a world in which technology and modernity has crumbled and given way to nature, trees, flowers and rivers. The narrator first excited, eventually feels nostalgic of a time that provided such comforts such as malls and Pizza Huts, and seems disillusioned at the overgrown paradise. I was inspired to illustrate this song in a colorful yet simple vector style that reflected the feeling and misplaced nostalgia of the melody. I created large and vibrant landscapes that best embodied a world reclaimed by nature.
